LicenceMate VORT Terms and Conditions
This article explains the terms that apply to LicenceMate VORT and test-related bookings in plain Australian English.
1. Scope
These terms apply to VORT and test-related bookings made through LicenceMate, including:
- VORT test bookings;
- Pre-VORT warmup sessions where they are sold as part of a test booking;
- vehicle options selected for a VORT booking, including using your own car or a vehicle arranged through the examiner, instructor, or LicenceMate; and
- any VORT re-test booking arranged through LicenceMate.
These terms do not apply to ordinary driving lessons unless the lesson is part of a VORT package or is expressly described as a Pre-VORT warmup. Ordinary driving lessons, package purchases, pass guarantees, pickup and drop-off benefits, and other package inclusions may be subject to separate LicenceMate terms.
If there is any inconsistency between these VORT terms and a specific written condition shown during checkout, in your booking confirmation, or in separate package terms, the more specific condition will apply to that part of the booking.
2. Eligibility
Before booking a VORT through LicenceMate, you must make sure you are legally eligible to sit the test on the booked date.
You are responsible for confirming that:
- for an Australian learner's permit: Your valid, original learner's permit (not expired, cancelled or otherwise invalid). Digital licences are accepted via the mySAGOV app, but you must log in and display it to the examiner, so ensure your phone has sufficient battery and internet access.
- for an International Temporary Driving Permit: you have the physical, valid, original permit and original valid photo ID (e.g. passport);
- for any other accepted permit: you meet that permit's specific examiner requirements;
- your permit will remain valid, not expired, not cancelled, and legally issued on the test date;
- the name and permit details match your booking and identification;
- you have completed any supervised driving hours, logbook requirements, or other legal requirements that apply to you;
- you have no outstanding Service SA issues, such as unpaid fines, parking fines, or other unresolved matters that could prevent the test from proceeding;
- you do not already have an active government test booking for the same purpose;
- if you hold an International Temporary Driving Permit, your last failed test is not within 3 days of this new test booking;
- if you hold an Australian learner's permit, your last failed test is not within 14 days of this new test booking;
- you have not failed a driving test during any other mandatory waiting period before the booked test;
- any required overseas licence, translation, identification, or supporting document is ready for test day; and
- the personal, contact, permit, licence, and booking details you give LicenceMate are complete, accurate, and consistent with the documents you will use on test day.
If you are not eligible, do not have the required documents, or cannot legally start the test, the booking may be cancelled or treated as forfeited. In that case, you may not be entitled to a refund.
3. Examiner Independence
VORT examiners are Authorised Examiners who assess candidates under South Australian licensing requirements. They operate independently from LicenceMate when conducting and assessing the test.
LicenceMate may help you find, book, pay for, and manage a VORT appointment, but LicenceMate does not:
- control the examiner's assessment;
- decide whether you pass or fail;
- influence the examiner's scoring, route, instructions, or final decision;
- guarantee that you will pass; or
- provide incentives to an examiner based on whether you pass or fail.
The examiner must assess your demonstrated driving competence against the applicable testing standards. Your test result is a matter between you, the examiner, and the relevant licensing authority.
4. Booking and Payment
Bookings are subject to examiner availability, vehicle availability, location availability, and payment being received.
When you make a VORT booking through LicenceMate:
- all prices are in Australian dollars unless stated otherwise;
- payment must be made in full at the time of booking unless LicenceMate confirms another arrangement in writing;
- your booking is not confirmed until LicenceMate or its payment system confirms payment and booking details;
- LicenceMate may use secure third-party payment providers to process payments;
- LicenceMate does not store full card details on its own servers; and
- prices may change for future bookings, but a price change will not affect a VORT booking that has already been confirmed and paid in full.
You must check your booking confirmation carefully, including the date, time, location, vehicle option, test type, and contact details. Contact LicenceMate as soon as possible if anything is incorrect.
5. Vehicle Options and Requirements
LicenceMate may offer different vehicle options for a VORT booking, depending on the examiner, location, test type, and availability. Common options include using your own car or using a vehicle arranged through the examiner, instructor, or LicenceMate.
Your Own Car
If you choose to use your own car, you are responsible for making sure it is suitable, legal, registered, insured, and roadworthy on the test day.
Your vehicle must meet all test and road safety requirements, including:
- current registration;
- roadworthy condition;
- valid insurance that allows the vehicle to be used for the test;
- working indicators, brake lights, headlights, hazard lights, horn, windscreen wipers, seatbelts, mirrors, brakes, steering, tyres, and safety systems;
- tyres with at least 2mm tread depth, unless a stricter legal or examiner requirement applies;
- suitable visibility and no unsafe damage or defects; and
- any other vehicle requirement set by the examiner or licensing authority.
The examiner may inspect the vehicle before the test. This check is not a full mechanical inspection and does not transfer responsibility for the vehicle to LicenceMate or the examiner.
If the vehicle is unsafe, unsuitable, unregistered, uninsured, defective, or otherwise unacceptable, the test may not proceed. If this happens because of the vehicle you supplied, the booking may be forfeited and no refund may be provided.
Arranged Vehicle
If you book a vehicle arranged through the examiner, instructor, or LicenceMate, the vehicle option only applies to the booking shown in your confirmation. It is subject to availability and may be replaced with a suitable alternative vehicle if needed.
You must use the arranged vehicle respectfully and follow all reasonable instructions given by the examiner or vehicle provider. LicenceMate may charge you for loss, damage, cleaning, tolls, fines, penalties, or other costs caused by your misuse, unlawful conduct, or failure to follow instructions.
6. Test-Day Requirements
You must arrive ready to start the test at the booked location and time. LicenceMate recommends arriving at least 15 minutes early.
You must have available:
- Your valid, original learner's permit (not expired, cancelled or otherwise invalid). Digital licences are accepted via the mySAGOV app, but you must log in and display it to the examiner, so ensure your phone has sufficient battery and internet access.
- if converting an International Temporary Driving Permit, your physical, valid, original, government-issued permit and original valid photo identification, such as a passport;
- documents with names and details that match your booking information;
- your completed logbook if required;
- any overseas licence and certified English translation if required;
- any other document required by the examiner or licensing authority; and
- any vehicle documents required if you are using your own car.
You must wear suitable clothing and footwear for driving. Footwear must allow safe control of the vehicle. Thongs, bare feet, clogs, shoes with very thick soles, or shoes without heel support may be refused.
During the VORT:
- learner permit conditions continue to apply until the relevant licence has been issued;
- only the candidate, examiner, and any authorised observer may be in the vehicle unless the examiner permits otherwise;
- an interpreter may assist before and after the test if allowed, but may not ride in the vehicle during the VORT unless permitted by the applicable rules;
- you must allow any authorised government representative to observe the test if required; and
- you must follow lawful and reasonable instructions from the examiner.
If you cannot start the test because you are not ready, do not have the required documents, are wearing unsuitable footwear, are affected by alcohol or drugs, behave unsafely, or otherwise fail to meet test-day requirements, the booking may be cancelled or forfeited without refund.
7. Cancellation, Reschedule and Refund Rules
VORT bookings require advance coordination with an examiner, vehicle provider, and location. For that reason, cancellation and reschedule rules are stricter than ordinary lesson rules.
Unless your booking confirmation states a longer notice period, you must request any cancellation or reschedule at least 5 business days before the scheduled appointment. This applies to VORT-related bookings, including the test, any Pre-VORT warmup, and use of an instructor car or other arranged vehicle for the test.
Business days are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding public holidays in South Australia. Notice given outside LicenceMate's business hours may be treated as received on the next business day.
If you cancel or request a reschedule with enough notice:
- LicenceMate will try to arrange a new available test time or process the eligible refund;
- any new time is subject to examiner, vehicle, and location availability;
- price differences may apply if you change test type, vehicle option, location, or other booking details; and
- approved refunds will incur the 10% handling fee stated in LicenceMate's current public terms.
If you cancel, reschedule, or request changes with less than the required notice, the booking may be non-refundable and non-transferable.
Cash refunds are only accepted under extreme circumstances at LicenceMate's discretion, subject to any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot legally be excluded.
Refunds, where approved, will usually be returned to the original payment method and processed within 7-10 business days. Actual receipt times may also depend on LicenceMate's payment provider and your bank.
LicenceMate may cancel or reschedule a booking if required because of examiner illness, unsafe weather, vehicle unavailability, location issues, payment issues, legal requirements, or events outside LicenceMate's reasonable control. If LicenceMate cancels and you are not at fault, LicenceMate will offer a reasonable replacement booking or another remedy required by Australian Consumer Law.
8. No-Show and Late Arrival
You must be at the correct test location and ready to start at the booked time.
The VORT cannot be started earlier than 5 minutes before or later than 15 minutes after the booked time.
If you arrive late, go to the wrong location, are not contactable, are not ready to commence the VORT during this allocated time, or do not attend, the booking may be treated as a no-show.
For a no-show or late arrival:
- the examiner may refuse to conduct the test;
- the booking may be forfeited;
- no refund may be provided; and
- a new booking and payment may be required.
9. Re-Tests and Pass Guarantee Cross-Reference
If you do not pass a VORT, you may need to wait for the mandatory re-test period before booking another attempt. LicenceMate cannot waive any waiting period set by law or by the licensing authority.
Some LicenceMate packages may include a Pass Guarantee or VIP Pass Guarantee. Those guarantees are separate from these VORT terms and only apply if the package terms and guarantee conditions are met.
For example, the Pass Guarantee may require that you:
- purchased an eligible package;
- booked your VORT, Pre-VORT, and vehicle option through LicenceMate;
- completed the required package lessons; and
- received instructor sign-off that you were test-ready before the test.
If a guarantee applies, the remedy is limited to the benefit described in the applicable Package Terms and Pass Guarantee Terms. A guarantee does not mean LicenceMate can influence an examiner, guarantee a pass result, waive legal requirements, or remove your responsibility to be eligible and test-ready.
10. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms limits rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot legally be excluded.
To the extent permitted by law, LicenceMate is not liable for:
- your VORT result;
- an examiner's assessment, decision, route, scoring, instructions, or refusal to conduct the test;
- your failure to meet eligibility, documentation, timing, clothing, vehicle, or legal requirements;
- any loss caused by inaccurate information you provide;
- mechanical issues, defects, insurance issues, fines, penalties, accidents, or damage involving a vehicle you provide;
- indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss; or
- delay, cancellation, or unavailability caused by events outside LicenceMate's reasonable control.
LicenceMate's role is to facilitate the booking and related administration. Your driving skill, legal eligibility, conduct on test day, and test performance remain your responsibility.
11. Disputes and Contact
If you have a question, complaint, or dispute about a VORT booking, contact LicenceMate as soon as possible.
Contact details:
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone: 1300 138 626
Please include your name, booking reference, test date, location, and a clear description of the issue.
LicenceMate will review booking, payment, and administration issues that relate to its services. If your dispute is about the examiner's assessment or the test result, LicenceMate may direct you to the examiner or the relevant licensing authority because LicenceMate does not control the assessment outcome.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia.
You and LicenceMate agree that the courts and tribunals of South Australia have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these terms, subject to any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
13. Updates
LicenceMate may update these VORT terms from time to time to reflect changes in services, pricing, legal requirements, examiner processes, or business operations.
The terms that apply to your booking are the terms accepted or provided when your booking is made, unless a later change is required by law or you agree to the later terms.
